Make-Up Artist magazine is heading north this weekend for the Canadian Makeup Show, held for the first time in Vancouver, B.C. (For the record, Make-Up Artist magazine is located in the other Vancouver—that’s Vancouver, Washington—which is about 250 miles to the south). The Make-Up Artist booth will offer magazine subscriptions, back issues and make-up products.
Make-Up Artist publisher Michael Key will also speak at the show, along with celebrity artists Eve Pearl, whose clients include Meredith Vieira and Brooke Shields, and Sharon Gault, who has worked with Madonna and Pamela Anderson. Oscar®-winning make-up artist Bill Corso, who recently finished work on the HBO film Grey Gardens, rounds out the roster.
According to show producer Jeff Saunders, the show will also feature student competitions in four different categories and live demonstrations of airbrush techniques, make-up effects and bodypainting. And CMS should be a good place to shop for thousands of products, from such brands as M.A.C., Stila and Make Up For Ever.
The Canadian Makeup Show will be held at the Agrodome, on the grounds of the Pacific National Exhibition, 2901 East Hastings Street in Vancouver. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 4-5. Admission is $30 in advance or $40 at the door for one day and $50 in advance and $65 at the door for two days. For ticket information, go to http://cmsvan.com/2009/.
Make-Up Artist magazine is sponsoring CMS and will host a second Canadian show this fall: the International Make-Up Artist Trade show in Toronto. For more information, go to http://makeupmag.com/imats/
