The Hair & Makeup Artist Network held an industry mixer May 28 in
Los Angeles. This networking opportunity paired make-up artists and
hairstylists with professionals from the film, TV, music and
photography industries. Make-Up Artist magazine swung by for a visit.
Hair & Makeup Artist Network marketing associate Karen Stein (left)welcomes a guest to the May mixer. “I personally have gotten many jobs
just from the people that I’ve met at the event,” she said.
Make-up artist Levi Vieira,
a first-time attendee, said the mixer “… gives us the opportunity to
really get to know people, not only in a professional level but on a
personal level as well.”
Hair
and make-up artists from all over the greater Los Angeles area attended
the mixer. Several guests expressed excitement about the possibility of
receiving health benefits through a pending HMAN group plan.
The event allowed people from different parts of the entertainment industry to meet, including photographer Jeff Carrillo (left) and hair and make-up artist Mariah Nicole. “There’s definitely work out there,” Nicole said. “You just have to find it.”

Web Exclusive: Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Young Hellboy - Monday August 04, 2008 |
| From a make-up perspective, the first major character to appear in Hellboy 2 is
a younger version of the hero, seen in a 1955 prologue with Professor
Broom (John Hurt). The Young Hellboy character was created by the
Barcelona-based company DDT Efectos Especiales and played in a
gender-bending twist by the company’s Montse Ribé. |
