Make-Up Artist magazine

As a make-up artist, Carmindy has seen some serious hygiene hang-ups, like reliquifying old mascara with hot water and introducing bacteria in the process. "It's scary looking into make-up bags—it's amazing what you can see," she says. "People don’t always care about their eyes and I want to tell them it's the most important thing."

That's why she'll be a judge in the Air Optix Aqua "Surprise Your Eyes" contest. The contact lens company is soliciting tips and tricks for keeping eyes healthy and looking beautiful (so far, tips have included applying lip balm with sunscreen around the eyes for sting-proof sun protection). Two grand-prize winners will receive $5,000 and a spa day with a friend; an additional six runners-up will receive a $500 Sephora gift certificate. To enter, fill out the entry form on the company's Web site (www.airoptixcontest.com), describe your best tip in 200 words or less and upload a photo or one-minute video demonstrating your tip. The entry deadline is April 30; Carmindy will help choose winners in May and the company will announce the results in June.

Web Exclusive: Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Young Hellboy
From a make-up perspective, the first major character to appear in Hellboy 2 is a younger version of the hero, seen in a 1955 prologue with Professor Broom (John Hurt). The Young Hellboy character was created by the Barcelona-based company DDT Efectos Especiales and played in a gender-bending twist by the company’s Montse Ribé.
